Michael DeKens, DPT, ATC, CSCS, CES, PES, USAW

Head Physical Therapist
Peak Wellness of Greenwich, CT

Dr. DeKens holds a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Dominican College. Whereas so many of today’s physical therapists rely on machines and tricky devices instead of their own hands just to cloak a limited knowledge of anatomy and a lack of the tactile skills needed to repair the body, Dr. DeKens is an elite manual technique specialist highly skilled in the increasingly scarce art of healing with his hands. That is why, where other therapists fail to fix, Dr. DeKens comes through. With advanced skills such as MWM, MET, PRT, ART, IASTM, effleurage STM and NDT techniques, Dr. DeKens handles some of our toughest cases. In addition to his healing prowess, Dr. DeKens has another degree from the University of Vermont specializing in athletic training. A three-sport athlete himself and rugby player in college, Dr. DeKens is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Certified United States Olympic Weightlifting Coach. As Head Athletic Trainer for New York Streets Arena Football and having worked with NFL, NBA, and NHL athletes.

Dr. DeKens is frequently called up to not only treat professional-level athletes but also to institute functional movement patterns into training to maximize ultimate game-time performance. Since 2017 he has generously served and continues to serve the Archdiocese of New York as their Athletic Safety Director, establishing athletic safety policies and procedures for concussions, emergency action plans, cardiac emergencies, and return-to-play.
